Association President Mary Trahan said that they expect the debates to take up the full two-hour program because there are so many candidates this year. “While it is possible a few won’t qualify by the July 5th deadline, it looks like we’ll have quite a roster, and that is good for the City. More citizens getting involved in the process is a good thing. It keeps people on their toes,” said Trahan.
As of this writing nomination papers have been taken out by Calvin Anderson, Buzzy Barton, Daniel Cahill, Jeffrey Carlisle, Paul Crowley, Stephen Duffy, Miguel Funez, Hong Net, John (Timothy) Phelan, and Robert Clay Walsh.
The event is open to everyone and there is no charge. Voters who want to submit questions for the debate should email@example.com or call 781-346-9060. Questions will be pre-selected from submissions, kept confidential until presented by the moderator, and remain anonymous.
Anyone eligible to vote but who is not yet registered can do so at this meeting. The deadline for voter registration is August 31st to vote in the September 20th primary election.
ELCA also plans to host a debate for School Committee candidates on the evening of Wednesday, September 14th. Details will be released at a later date.
